 Hello ,

Welcome to the June edition of the Professional Digital Workflow. This month brings another bumper-crop of multimedia stories and interactive features along with not one, but five video tutorials highlighting the top reasons to consider Adobe Lightroom 2 for your workflow. In addition, we've published a white paper to demystify RAID backup systems to protect your work.

Lightroom 2 Wiki

Are you trying to find out what exactly Lightroom's Painter tool does but don't want to read through an entire book to find the answer? The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Wiki  has the answer in an informative, yet easy to read format.

Blue Cubit ImageNest Software

One of the reasons for purchasing a software RIP to run your large format printer is the built-in image nesting capabilities that will automatically layout multiple images onto a page for printing. Blue Cubit's ImageNest software provides image nesting, scaling and printing in a package that is far more affordable than most RIPs. From $99 for 13-inch printers.

Endangered Everglades

Jim Lo Scalzo takes us on a tour of Florida's Everglades to look at both the myths and the reality surrounding this fragile land.

The Bottom Line

Women's Work

Unfortunately, most multimedia stories are somber in tone, exposing violence, injustice or the disappearance of the natural world. While this story is tinged with sadness, it affirms that even from the most dire situations, people rebuild, move on and prosper. This video story chronicles the rise of women in Rwandan society after the 1994 genocide.

MergeGroup

Multimedia isn't limited to journalism. The MergeGroup proves that still photos, text, sound and video can be effective combinations for advertising as well. Be sure to check out Saturday and Imagine from GE.

You Need a Quiet Place

Ikea isn't as well known for their ads as Apple or VW, but they've put together an interactive microsite titled You Need A Quiet Place to entertain visitors while helping them redecorate their bedroom. Be sure to check out the Change Angle button to view the room from different camera angles.

RAID Systems

Higher-megapixel cameras and a growing catalog of scores of digital photographs finds many photographers struggling to back up and store their work. One of the most effective backup solutions for small-to-medium sized photo and design studios is a desktop RAID system. Read on to learn the differences between hardware and software RAID systems to help you decide which RAID system is right for you.

Last month's Lightroom 2 tutorial left several readers wanting more. Ask and ye shall receive. This month, I want to call attention to five of the most important workflow reasons for switching to Lightroom 2. Instead of describing them, I've created five short tutorials to help you see how Lightroom 2 can make image processing faster and easier.
