| | Dear , This spring I gained a deeper "big-picture" understanding of how images are being captured, processed and delivered. Igathered this knowledge in none other than Las Vegas, at the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) and National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) tradeshows. While PMA focuses primarily on photography and NAB on video, motion graphics and broadcasting, conversations with a variety of people anddemonstrations of products truly revealed to me how these two fields intermingle and will continue to grow closer together in coming years.
Both still photographers and videographers are currently adapting to the changing economic landscape and shifting distribution methods. Right now, itappears everyone is excited by the opportunities the Web presents, but are a bit unsure of how to create for and make money in this new medium. Weshould expect to see a lot of interesting experiments from photographers, videographers and designers in the coming year as tools become moreaffordable and technology makes it easier then ever to publish across mediums.
I'll continue to call your attention to the best photography and multimedia projects here in this newsletter, on my blog and on Twitter, where youcan find me at: jaykinghorn. I appreciate the feedback I've received recentlyregarding my posts and encourage you to drop me a line and let me knowwhat's on your mind.

Most notable are the redesign of the customizable quick keys to make them far more powerful and user friendly. One of the highlights isbeing able to assign application-specific keyboard shortcuts to each of the hot keys. The result is a single quick key that can be used for theAdjustment Brush in Lightroom, trigger an action in Photoshop and assign a specific transition in Final Cut.
Adobe Productivity Reports This week, Adobe and Pfeiffer Consulting released a series of reports calculating theproductivity benefits of the Creative Suite 4 products overtheir CS3 predecessors. | | The Lean Forward Moment: Creating Compelling Stories for Film, TV and the Web
It isn't often that I review books in this newsletter. Then again, it isn't often I come across a book as remarkable as Norman Hollyn's The LeanForward Moment. Photographers venturing into multimedia, filmmaking and interactive projects will find this book immensely helpful at graspingthe nuances of editing, camera positioning and sound, and gaining a deeper appreciation for how these elements enhance the key themes in yourstories.
Anyone who reads this book will gain a deeper appreciation for the craft of moviemaking and the components of visual storytelling. From the ambientbackround sounds, to the lighting or the tempo of the edits in a scene, directors use these tools to engage the audience and create a more compellingvisual experience.
